Jo was baptised into the church in 1992 and John in 1993, using the baptistry at Helmdon. They moved to the USA in 1993 and returned at the beginning of 1995. John served as chairman of Building and Grounds; taught PACE Youth Class; ran the Men's Fellowship; and was a helper to anyone who had a need. Jo served as Church Clerk, chairperson of Nominating; Holiday Club administrator; Prayer team leader; and PACE teacher.

They moved to Kentisbeare, Devon, England in 1998 where John was a furniture restorer and they were members of Sainthill Baptist Church which meets in a 1830 stone chapel overlooking beautiful countryside. Jo was a Head of Year and a French and German teacher in a secondary school. They have a daughter Hannah.

In 2005 they moved to Brittany in France where they are hoping to set up a small retreat/vacation centre especially for the refreshment of Christian workers. John is a skilled and trained mediator.
